KS3 (YEARS 7+8) SCIENCE

From September 2011 we are delivering a new KS3 Science course called FUSION. It has a practical approach packed with experiments and activities to make learning motivating, engaging and fun.

The course is highly accessible for all abilities, with an emphasis on providing pupils with feedback on where they’re at and showing them how to progress.

‘How Science Works’ is integrated throughout.

Topics studied in Year 7 are:-

  •     Reversible and Irreversible Changes
  •     Electricity and Magnetism
  •     Reproduction
  •     Particles in Action
  •     Forces and Energy

Topics studied in Year 8 are:-

  •     Body Systems
  •     Elements and Compounds
  •     Light and Space
  •     Ecology
  •     Our Planet
  •     Heat and Sound

KS4

At KS4 the students are currently able to study Additional Science, Triple Sciences or BTEC Applied Science. Both Additional Science and Triple Sciences are from WJEC, further information can be found by clicking on the link below

As an examination board the WJEC

  • WJEC allows for modular entry
  • WJEC offers two examination sitting sessions (January and June)

KS5

At KS5 we build on the success we have had at KS4 with all three Sciences being very popular. Biology, Chemistry and Physics all currently follow the WJEC specification. More information about these courses can be found by following the link
