Impact of Covid

Contextual Information for Higher Education Providers (2021)

Covid 19 Implications for current cohort

Monday 23rd March Crickhowell High School closed due to Government guidelines.

Staff were required to upload online work and resources for remote learning, minimal live teaching took place. On 23rd June, Year 12 returned on a staggered basis for lessons with their subject teachers. They received 8 hours of teaching per subject over the three weeks. Additionally, each subject teacher set work to complete at home and they continued to follow the subject specification and primarily consisted of retrieval style tasks and past papers to check understanding. Students also had the opportunity to attend ‘teams meetings’ to raise questions about the work set. We closed for the summer on July 23rd 2020 and the students returned on Thursday 3rd September. The school has many students with ‘lockdown’ postcodes and a high proportion who have had disruption to their studies during this half term.
