Sixth Form Induction

Dear Students and Parents,

The Sixth Form Induction Day for students will be held on Thursday, 23rd June 2011 from 9.00am – 1.30pm.

The aim of the day is to help students choose their A Level subjects and they will receive guidance from pastoral staff as well as a University representative and Careers Advisor.  Subject staff will discuss the demands and content of their course as well as providing advice on suitability and compatibility of subjects.  There will also be Year 12 students available to answer questions and talk about their experiences as well as information on the Welsh Baccalaureate.  There is no dress code requirement for the day.

This programme is arranged for prospective students but I will be available from 4.00pm – 6.30pm on June 23rd if parents would like to make an appointment to discuss choices in more detail.  Please call 01873 813531 or email if you would like to arrange this.  Finally, we understand that, for some students, choices will depend on their GCSE results.  I will therefore be available after the GCSE results in August as well.

If prospective students are unable to attend the Induction Day, please could they inform the Office or myself.

This year, Powys LEA will be sending out letters and application forms for transport directly to all Year 11 students.  Please look out for these and return early to avoid disappointment.  Monmouthshire students should contact their LEA.

Please return any school textbooks on this day if you have not already done so.  We look forward to seeing you on June 23rd.

Yours sincerely,

Kate Thomas
