A-Level Resuls Press Release

Crickhowell High School is once again celebrating excellent A-Level Results. Over 200 students sat examinations at AS and A2 this summer in more than 30 courses with 100% pass rate at A to E for our A2 students.

At A2 43% of all grades awarded were at A*/A, 65% A*/B and 84% A* – C. This success reflects the talent and hard work of our fantastic students and also the dedication of their teachers. A number of students achieved A*/A in all their subjects.

More than 95% of our students who applied to University have gained entry to their first or insurance choice at higher education. Courses and destination include English & Drama at Cambridge, Philosophy & Maths at Bristol, Dentistry at Cardiff, Chemical Engineering at UCL, Professional Aviation at Middlesex, Law at Cardiff, Veterinary Medicine at Bristol, History at Manchester and Mathematics at Exeter. We are particularly pleased to see so many students successful in gaining places on very competitive courses in Nursing and Teaching.

AS results are outstanding this year with one of our highest level of top grades to date and the retention rate to Year 13 is very high. Applications to join our Sixth Form are growing and as a result we are opening a new Sixth Form Study Centre.

We are incredibly proud of all our Sixth Form students and appreciate that their excellent results reflect not only their dedication but also the considerable support of their parents and families.

Harry Webb achieved 5 A grades and an A* at A2 and piloted the EBQ achieving grade A. .

Jackie Parker, Headteacher, said “It is a huge testament to our wonderful students that they have done so well in achieving such remarkable success in very challenging examinations. I have every confidence that they will go on to excel in their chosen careers and make a very positive difference in society.
