Eleven Year 12 students from Crickhowell High School have been working hard from September completing Volunteering, Developing Personal Skills, Physical Skills, and Expedition Training in pursuit of their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
The students are undertaking their training expedition in the Wild Country area of the Brecon Beacons before planning out completing an Expedition further afield for their assessment.
Girgis Assad has run a Wellbeing Fun Club for Year 7 in his lunchtimes giving this younger year group a safe place to chill out and meet others in the same year group.
Alex Lee has been working with the Llangatock Community Woodlands group, improving the local environment for his Volunteering Section and for his personal skills he is learning to fly a microlite plane.
A number of these students are working with Kerry Crossfield at the Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau on the Defib Project and have completed first aid training and working in the community replacing defib batteries.
