Crickhowell High School is thrilled to announce outstanding GCSE results, our best ever with 87% of all Year Eleven students obtaining at least 5 A*-C passes including English and Maths. This reflects a significant 8% increase since last year and a 15% increase since 2014 and is well above Wales and Powys averages. The school saw 98% of students achieve the Level 2 threshold (at least 5 A*-C GCSE passes), with 31% of all GCSE grades A*/A level an increase of 3% on last year. The school is particularly proud that all Year 11 students are leaving school with recognised qualifications including a number of students who have vastly outperformed their targets.
These impressive GCSE results come on the back of last week’s impressive A Level results which saw an outstanding 17% of all grades awarded being A*, 42% of grades being A* or A and 100% A* to E. We are also delighted with the number of Year 11 students returning to Year 12 and we look forward to welcoming a large number of new students who are joining our Sixth Form from other schools and colleges.
In Year Eleven a fifth of all students achieved 5 or more A*/A grades with 11% of the year achieving 10 or more A*/A grades. The school is equally proud of those students who achieved at least 5 A* to C grades despite considerable additional learning needs, performing well above their target grades.
Headteacher, Mrs Jackie Parker, said “These outstanding results reflect the significant improvement in attainment the school continues to make each year. This reflects excellent teaching and learning, the hard work & dedication of our students ,staff and governors, combined with incredible support from parents and the wider community. These are outstanding GCSE results continuing a constantly improving trend and we will strive to ensure this success is maintained; we aim to perform at even higher standards next year. Crickhowell High School is committed to raising standards significantly in education as a community high school in Wales, ensuring that all of our students are given the best opportunities to make sure they achieve their full potential.”
“We are so proud of all of them and it is wonderful to enjoy such days and moments in education when we can celebrate these superb young people and their outstanding success.”
