We are pleased to announce that Crickhowell High School will be installing a cashless catering system, which will be introduced at the same time as an internet payments option for all school activities and purchases, paid for at school.
This cashless catering system will allow us to continue with the development of the school meal service, and will provide us with a more efficient, faster and ultimately better quality of service.
The system incorporates the latest technology and eliminates the need for pupils to carry cash throughout the day thus reducing the risk of bullying. It is also biometric so there is no need for pupils to carry a card as the system will recognise the thumb of your child at the tills. Please note that no image of the thumb print is stored. The impression generates a digital code and it is this code that links the pupils to their account.
We are anticipating commencing operating the system as soon as possible following the February 2016 Half Term. We will confirm the actual “go live” date over the next couple of weeks. As such no cash or cheques will be accepted at the school after the “go live” date.
All pupils and staff will be given training on how to use the system.
Money can be paid into a pupil’s account through Parentpay with a minimum transaction of £10. Topping up of your child’s account is flexible and at your discretion, any money spent on food and drink will be deducted on a daily basis. A daily “spend limit” of £5:00 will be programmed into the system. This can be increased or decreased for an individual pupil by the parent(s) making a written request by e-mail to the school finance office.
We have two payment options available to you – online payments at www.parentpay.com and Pay Point with the local community (i.e. local post offices, supermarkets etc).
Comprehensive instructions on how to set up your payment account including activating the account will follow in due course.
The system will allow complete privacy for those pupil’s entitled to Free School Meals.
In line with current legislation we will be operating and “Opt Out” policy. If you choose not to have your child registered on the Biometric System a 4 digit PIN Code will be allocated. Please note that PIN codes do not have the same level of security and it will be your child’s responsibility to remember the code and keep it secure at all times.
As well as dinner money you will be able to pay various other parent contributions on the same account. Trips, uniform, music lessons and other parental payments can be paid for in this way.
You will be able to log into an account which will show options available to your particular child and a payment history. From the time of implementation you will be able to view your account showing a history of payments.
Monies for charity/non-uniform days will always be “money in the bucket” event.
For further information please see the Schools website where there are some FAQ’s. In addition to this we would like to invite you into the school on 1st (key stage 4 & 5) and 2nd (options evening for key stage 3) February 2016 at 6pm where the new cashless system will be introduced and any further questions answered.
It is envisaged that the introduction of the new cashless system will improve your experience of making payments to the school.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your anticipated support with this new system which will be beneficial to pupils, parents and the school.
Mrs. Jackie Parker
