Huge congratulations to Gabbie Fakande, who’s tremendous success in national athletics (running against senior women) during the summer has now earned her a place to train with the Welsh National 4 x 100m relay team, starting in October, ready for racing in 2019. Such a huge achievement and we certainly haven’t seen the last!
At the end of July, Gabbie attended the Celtic games in Scotland, where she took 2nd place in the 400m event and was even asked to Captain the Welsh team! It was all systems go getting her motivational speech ready for the dinner the evening before they all raced.
She also raced in the International, which this year was held in Swansea, walking away with new personal bests. From this race, Gabbie was picked to run in the International in Manchester.
But Gabbie isn’t resting on her laurels. She’s now starting winter training ready for the indoor athletics season. She’s a role model and inspiration to younger students and a clear indication of what can be achieved through sheer hard work and determination.
