Brecon Baroque Festival 2018

Rachel Podger, an internationally recognized violinist and conductor, specialising in the performance of Baroque music, has extended an invitation to Crickhowell High School GCSE, AS and A2 music students to watch the Brecon Baroque Ensemble rehearsing for their ‘Bach’s Angels Concert’ on Saturday 20th October 2018 from 14.30 to 16.30 pm, a rehearsal which is likely to be interactive!  The full concert will be held that evening at 19.00.

This is a valuable opportunity for our students to see up close how professional musicians rehearse for a performance.  Music isn’t just about playing the notes or learning the language of music.  It teaches people how to collaborate with one another, how to be a good leader or a good follower, how to be responsible for your part and knowing your place in an ensemble or orchestra.  In short, this kind of experience is a useful lessons in life skills.  And it’s also fun!

The Brecon Baroque Ensemble will be rehearsing at Theatr Brycheiniog and students will need to make their own way there.
