Crickhowell High School is delighted to announce outstanding GCSE results with 87% of all Year 11 students obtaining at least 5 A* to C passes at GCSE. 85% of students achieved one or more GCSE A* to C passes in Mathematics and 84% of students achieved a pass in English Language. These results are significantly higher than both the Wales and Powys averages and among the top achieved in Wales. We are also delighted with this year’s Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Certificate results, which have shown a marked improvement this year, with 92% of students achieving the Certificate and 50% achieving the higher grades. We’re particularly proud that all our Year 11 students are leaving school with recognised qualifications, including a significant number of students who have vastly outperformed their targets.
These very positive results follow on from last week’s outstanding A2 and AS results, which saw 22% of all grades awarded at A* and 100% A* to E. We’re thrilled to welcome so many Year 11 students returning to Year 12 and we look forward to greeting a number of new students who are joining our Sixth Form from other schools and colleges.
In Year 11 29% of all students achieved 5 or more A*/A grades with 11 students achieving 10 or more A*/A grades. We’re equally proud of those students who achieved 5 A* to C grades with additional learning needs, performing well above their target grades.
“These impressive results reflect our high academic standards achieved year on year, even though the new qualifications in Wales has set more rigorous standards. We commend the dedication and hard work of our students, staff, parents and governors and look forward to even better results next year”.
We’re so very proud of our amazing students and it’s a great privilege to celebrate these superb young people and their outstanding success.”
