Zosia Lewandowski Wins PromArt 2017

Huge congratulations to Zosia Lewandowski, who has just been selected as the winner of the Middle School Category, PromArt 2017, for her beautiful artwork entitled ‘The Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks’.

“I chose this title because lots of ideas came to mind when I read it” said Zosia.  “My artwork is of a ballet dancer emerging from eggshells.  I wanted to create a painting to look as peaceful as the music by the composer”.

PromArt 2017 is a competition amongst schools in Powys, to promote, celebrate and showcase the artistic talents of students through music.  It is the brainchild of Brecon Town Concert Band and is run in conjunction with Theatr Brycheiniog and the Lumen Prize for Digital Art.  This is the first year the competition has been run and the standard of the 288 entries received has been very high.

Zosia’s winning creation will be on display with many other entries in the Andrew Lamont Gallery on the second floor of Theatr Brycheiniog, when the exhibition opens on Friday 8th September 2017 at 6.30 pm for one month.  There will also be a digital display of the exhibition on stage during the Brecon Town Concert Band performance of their Last Night of the Proms concert on Monday 11th September 2017 at 7.00 pm, when the band will be performing Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, the theme of PromArt 2017.  A presentation ceremony will be held during the concert for the competition winners.
