Our Eco Week took place on Monday 6th – Friday 10th of July, earlier this year. During the course of a week, the Eco Committee organised many events which encouraged all students to actively get involved with the movement of Fairtrade and Eco Schools.
Cook it club was run with the final session held on the Thursday and it was very popular amongst all students. The students taking part were instructed to make a healthy, well-balanced meal whilst using Fairtrade products. We also planned and held a non-uniform day where we raised £400 for the Fairtrade Foundation. The aim of the non-school uniform day was to provide awareness of Fairtrade and in the long term to encourage the support of it.
We organised litter picks during the week in which many students very kindly volunteered to take part in. Finally we collected 30 bags of unwanted clothes, shoes and other textiles which we donated to a scheme called Rag Bag who distribute good quality clothes to people in need and recycle the rest. Thank you to all students, parents and staff who contributed to make our Eco Week such a success.
