The purpose of the WJEC Level 3 Applied Certificate in Criminology is to provide learners with an introduction to criminal justice and to give a context for humanities learning. Together with other relevant qualifications, such as GCE Law, Psychology and Sociology, it develops the understanding to support entry to higher education courses in the humanities sector.
The following units will be externally assessed ( course work) : Unit 2: Criminological Theories Unit 4: Crime and Punishment.
The following units are internally assessed ( Exam) Unit 1: Changing Awareness of Crime • Unit 3: Crime Scene to Courtroom.
The purpose of the course is for learners to apply their understanding of the public perceptions of crime and campaigns for change with criminological theories to examine how both are used to set policy.
