Duke of Edinburgh Award What is it?
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities, designed to support the personal and social development of young people aged 14-25, regardless of gender, background or ability. It offers an individual challenge and encourages young people to undertake exciting, constructive, challenging and enjoyable activities in their free time.
Pupils can enrole onto the award up to 3 months before their 14th birthday but they must be 14 by the time they do the practice expedition which is on the 23rd and 24th of June this year. This is due to insurance reasons and is imposed on us by the Duke of Edinburg’s Award body. Anyone that is too young to do this with us will be able to access the award either through open centres or with another organisation such as youth groups or scouts.
Training for summer 2012 is starting at 1.30 on Tuesday 27th March.
