About

Crickhowell High School was purpose built to meet the needs of the growing community and opened as a new school in 1983. Our Location >>

We are developing a much broader range of activities and opportunities to meet the needs of the whole community. Crickhowell is recognised as a high achieving school for teaching and learning, and features regularly in the top five hundred schools in the United Kingdom
Over 73% of students regularly achieve at least five grades A* – C at GCSE by the end of Key Stage 4 and students go on to achieve excellent results post 16.
We offer a very broad range of curriculum opportunities for all our students, delivered by a specialist team of highly qualified and dedicated staff. We work very hard to identify and support the individual learning needs of all our students.

Addiitional learning opportunities are available during breaks and lunchtimes. We also offer some part time vocational college courses. In addition to this many students attend ‘twilight sessessions’ after school when they have the chance to study a wide range of sporting, academic and creative options.

As a school we are committed to developing the use of technology to enhance learning; this includes interactive software and video conferencing facilities. In 2006 we installed a new ICT network across the school which has proved very successful.
We have a very strong commitment to Global Citizenship and sustainability and have forged close links with St. Peter’s School in Uganda and the learning community in Dubai.

Crickhowell students have numerous opportunities to visit other countries as part of their academic and extra curricular studies. With regular trips to Poland, Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Uganda and Dubai.
The next long distance expedition is planned for Libya.
